    Rare Updateness

So Mark asked me why I haven't updated since my first entry, and well....the answer is because I couldn't be bothered. Never mind though, there's an entry here, should keep him fairly happy. So what's been happening? Bog all really. I've had a serious lack of money since Virgin paid me for the two weeks that I was still there. Hoping they'd made a mistake, I rang them, but alas they were correct. So i've been living on £70 for two weeks. Needless to say I'm looking forward to my first payslip from Woolies on friday!

The other thursday I hit TEENAGE GRANDAD at Lava & Ignite with Mark and his buddies. We started off in the Southfield, where me and his mate Chris mercilessly mocked him for taking photo upon photo of random shit on his phone. Then Dave (top bloke) drove us to Lava & Ignite. Bouncers ID'd us, which was okay, because they were surprisingly friendly (for bouncers anyway.) I've come to the conclusion that I only look over 18 when i'm dressed smartly or not had a shave for a day or two. Either that or it was because of the company I was in (Wtf??? They're all way over 18 too!)

"So what's Lava & Ignite like then?" I hear you cry. Well it's quite nice, actually. Smart on the inside, a nice big room with a fairly spacious dancefloor, three bars and an upstairs room (kind of a chillout area, but with a seperate DJ too.) All in all, I was impressed. Upstairs was the best, the DJ playing a mixture of indie and pop, with some good old cheese thrown in. Even a bit of Ska and 80's hip-hop. Very nice. Drinks were decently priced too, £1.70 for all VK bottles and £1.50 for a pint. Music downstairs was mainly indie, not a bad thing particularly but the dancefloor was far too packed to dance, and so we spent most of the time on the edges, shuffling about, to be blunt. Will I go again? Yes.

Haven't been out since then, so that puts us up to date really. I've been listening to a lot of Depeche Mode recently, I've always enjoyed the songs 'Personal Jesus', 'Enjoy The Silence', and 'Get The Balance Right', but i'd never heard any of their really early stuff. But I have to say, the compilation album 'The Singles - The Best of '81 - '85' is awesome. Not a single bad track, in fact. It's totally different to post '85 Mode, where they took a dark turn and produced lots of gloomy but awesome songs. No, this is complete full on Synthpop, and it rocks. Sorry, that should be bounces. You can't rock to Synthpop can you? Thought not. Anyway, listen to the track Blasphemous Rumours. It signals the start of their dark side, in fact the song was nearly banned on the radio due to it's controversial content, depicting a girl trying to commit suicide and failing, then after appreciating the gift of life and becoming a deeply religious person, being hit by a car and dying. The chorus [I don't want to start any
blasphemous rumours, but I think that God's got a sick sense of humour] sums this song up fantastically. Anyway, back to the point. Listen to it :P

Crikey, that was a long paragraph wasn't it?

Laura had me looking at Play.com the other night, to find out how much Smallville is on DVD, and I couldn't help but notice the 'Coming Soon' section. Now there's lots of DVD's coming out that I want, but can't have till I have money. Now I normally acquire my stuff off the internet, but my place in question has been shut down forever, which means i'm now forced to buy stuff. Gah. If anybody (well, Laura or Mark, you two are the only people I know who read this thing) wants to buy me any of the following, feel free. They're all not out until September or after, and my birthday is coming up soon :P

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Out 5/9/2005
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas (Finally out on Region 2 DVD!) - 5/9/2005
    Sin City - 26/09/2005
    That 70's Show [Season 2] - 19/09/2005
    Little Britain [Series 2] - 10/10/2005
CSI New York [Series 1.1 - This really pisses me off, releasing each series over two sets just to make more money. The Americans get theirs in a complete series, so why can't we?) - 24/10/2005
Battle Royale 2 [Revenge - I have the original sequel, this is the Directors Cut Edition] - 24/10/2005

Dammit, DVD companies offering up such treats that I must have!

    Till next time...
